| "Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.” | |
John Wooden UCLA Basketball Coach, winner of 10 National Championships in 12 years
|
Director Burgos has been coaching tennis players of all levels for 20+ years. Though he has coached hundreds of sectionally and nationally ranked players, including several national champions. His goal has always been to develop "Champions of Life." If you focus on the things that make you successful, winning will take care of itself. His mantra on being prepared to win and discovering what your best effort is has proven to be a successful formula for not only developing winners on the court, but winners off the court. "I coach winners of life. The will to prepare is more important than the will to win. I have never encountered anyone who regretted giving their best effort. All I ask is that my players give their best. I expect my students to strive to reach their potential. The results will happen on and off the court." says Coach Burgos. He is proudest of the hundreds of students who have gone on to college and pursued their education with the same discipline and drive they learned on the tennis court. Together we have built successful teams and more importantly, lifelong friendships and FAMILY.
The Competition Team stresses the "Spanish" way to play tennis. Players are taught to focus on consistency, working the point, and looking for opportunities to be aggressive and win. Just as in life. You have to being willing to work hard, recognize the opportunities for success and problem solve. Players develop the self confidence to go for opportunities that arise! Most importantly, they are taught to be part of a team with a common goal. A sense of family is developed from day one. Education is an integral part of our program. Players are expected to balance academics and sport. If not, they are asked to take a break from tennis and focus on academics. All of our players are college bound!
Will you fight when things get tough? Or will you take the easy road and give up? It is my hope that my students learn to give their best day in and day out no matter the result. Students are taught to value themselves and understand that they are worth all the effort they put forth. My focus has always been more than just teaching the game of tennis. The skills learned on the court become important life skills for the future. I teach my players that how you carry yourself, train, and compete on the court is how you will live your life. They learn to love the battle!
Vamos! Hasta la victoria siempre!
Antonio Burgos
Tennis Director

We also offer both high performance competition team, recreational and individual tennis programs for adults and juniors in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Though we have coached over a hundred sectionally and nationally ranked players, our focus has always been to develop the whole individual.
